How Telegram channel reach is calculated
Reach is the share of your subscribers a post is shown to: average views per post divided by subscribers, times 100. Our Telegram dataset uses the same measure, channel by channel, so your figure can be read directly against the band medians.
Reach = average views per post ÷ subscribers × 100
What the view counter does and does not tell you
- Views include more than subscribers. Telegram counts every view of a post, including views through forwards and web previews by people who are not subscribed, so reach can overstate the share of subscribers who saw it, most of all on channels whose posts travel.
- Subscriber counts can be padded. Inactive or bought accounts add subscribers who never read, which pulls reach down.
- Use an average, not a single post. One post that was forwarded widely can inflate a single reading.
- One figure per band: the median. The dataset publishes the median reach of each size band and nothing else, so the calculator tells you whether you sit above or below the typical channel of your size, and by how much, without estimating a percentile it does not have.
- No benchmark under 1,000 subscribers. The dataset sets that floor, so smaller channels get their reach without a comparison.
Telegram channel reach by subscriber band
Average views per post divided by subscribers, as the median across the channels in each band. The catalogue behind it holds 3,205,346 public channels. Your band is highlighted once you enter a subscriber count.
| Subscribers | Median reach | Channels measured | Basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1K-5K | 31.4% | 7,179 | Sample |
| 5K-20K | 15.8% | 2,750 | Sample |
| 20K-100K | 9.1% | 1,201 | Sample |
| 100K-500K | 6.0% | 8,380 | Every channel |
| 500K+ | 3.3% | 1,211 | Every channel |
The dataset publishes the median only, so there are no quartiles to rank against. A channel above its band’s median is doing better than the typical channel of its size.
